4. The hero of this book is Guy Montag. He stands up for what he eventually knows is the right thing to do. At first he struggles with the idea of changing, but once you change there is no way of going back. Guy was perfect character for this book. If he were any different it would not have been as good for the book. He was not always sure of what he was supposed to do, but once he did it he had made up his mind there was no going back. He was determined in what he was going to do. One of his less admirable traits was when he became angry he became enraged. It is obvious when he killed Beatty at his home. I think that even though he thought that Beatty wanted to die, and that is how he comforted himself, it was not the right thing to do. I think that Guy Montag represented courage. When he had his made up he stuck with it. Even when it was not the right thing to do he stuck with it. When he was worried about what he should do when he was in trouble he had Faber to help him at first. However when he was going on a rant, he had no fear. He was always ready to fight when he was angry. He lacked a lot of self-control and he did a very poor job of controlling himself. Guy Montag also represented truth. When he was trying to realize the goodness of books. He wanted people to know that there was truth in the books. Since he wanted people to realize the truth in the books I believe that he himself represented truth. He knew the truth in the books. Guy also knew that other people needed to see that it is okay to have different views. He knew that they had to realize it themselves. It was up to him however to show them how to understand it.
